The one ball is so important to start your run. Really think about what side of the two ball you need to be on to get to your next ball. Then you’ll want to play in-line position. We will talk about in-line position next week. With the 1 ball we usually have a few choices of where we pocket the 1 ball, but the real question is where to position the cue ball when making the 1 ball to be to our biggest advantage. Really think ahead and look at the 2, 3 and your 4 ball. Start deciding exactly where you want the cue ball to land after pocketing a ball prior to getting down on your shot. If you don’t get the position you desired then you don’t get there, but you made a decision and now you can develop your execution. Many times we don’t make an exact decision because we don’t know where our cue ball is headed. That’s okay, just start somewhere.
